For the last year, as the house prices decrease, the number of sales go up. It's great to feel hopeful about the housing market, but continue to keep in mind the huge volume of houses on the market, in some cases more than a year of inventory. There are buyers out there, and if sellers lower their prices, the buyers start buying again. Just remember, if you hear the market is getting better, it mainly means there are more sales, not that the prices are rising.

If you bought your house in the 1990's, you most likely have plenty equity in your house, but if you bought in 2006, you may need to wait a couple more years to sell in order to realize a profit.
